1/3 cup (75 mL) salt
1/3 cup (75 mL) sugar
1/3 cup (75 mL) spice mixture made of:
5 tsp (25 mL) smoked paprika
1 tbsp (15 mL) regular paprika
1 tbsp (15 mL) ground black pepper
1 tbsp (15 mL) garlic powder
1 tsp (5 mL) dried thyme
Measure carefully and mix together all ingredients in a dry, sealable container (e.g. glass jar or bottle). Can be stored for up to 6 months.
Use as a dry rub for pork (cover and refrigerate overnight for roasts, or apply 10-20 minutes before grilling for thinner chops and steaks).
