Hello 2012, Hello Pork!!!

Hello 2012, Hello Pork!!!

A New Year is always an exciting time…it is a time to reflect on the passing year and more importantly look to the future.  To welcome this change many of us commit to New Years resolutions to help us achieve the goals that we have set out for the upcoming year.  One of the most popular New Years resolutions is to focus on ones health – whether that is losing weight, exercising more, dieting or a combination.

By mid February the majority of Canadians that have set out to lose weight or become fit will have broken their New Years resolution.  One of the main reasons they get off track, is they find it difficult to give up foods that they enjoy to eat.  It is often also stated that healthy food choices tend to be more costly, and more time consuming to prepare.  This doesn’t need to be the case there are numerous foods out there, Pork being one that is nutritious, low in fat, affordable and most importantly one doesn’t have to sacrifice taste!

Following a healthy and well-balanced diet is one of the most important things you can do to achieve and maintain overall health. Luckily, many cuts of pork are lean and can be part of your healthy diet, even if you are trying to eat "heart smart", manage diabetes, lose weight or just generally eat well.
