Bacon: The Internet superstar

Everyone has always loved bacon. The crispy, salty treat has been the high point of breakfast for a long time. But sometime in the last ten years there was a shift and bacon went from being a breakfast MVP to a full-blown internet superstar.
A quick search on Google reveals several bacon blogs, bacon Tumblrs, bacon Pinterest pages and more. On Facebook, bacon has over 4 million likes. That’s more than beer, kittens and Nintendo.
But beyond all of the Internet hype, there is a genuinely delicious food here. One that can be fried, smoked, grilled, baked and so forth. The great thing about the food’s popularity online is people have thought of some rather unusual ways of eating it.

- Bacon-wrapped jalapeno pop burger
- Bacon pie
- And of course Bacon ice cream
