History
When our founder, Nathan "Nick" Schwartz, opened his first retail outlet at St. Clair Ave. & Dufferin St. in 1923 few people would have imagined that it would grow into an international pork processing business employing over 600 people and selling products to over 30 countries throughout the world!
By 1931 "Nick" had 8 meat markets in Toronto and formed Quality Meat Packers Ltd. Demand for Quality Meat Packers pork quickly spread to other independent butchers and restaurants and the new business flourished.
In 1960 Quality Meat Packers purchased the Toronto Civic Abattoir located in Toronto. This location remains the site of the company's head office, processing and distribution facilities. The company also became a federally inspected facility which enabled it to ship products across Canada as well as internationally to over 30 other Countries.
Today, Quality Meat Packers celebrates three generations a family owned business. While we remain committed to the latest technology in food safety and processes we are still focused on unsurpassed customer service, the highest level of craftsmanship in our products and complete integrity in everything we do. These qualities were important to our founder, Nick, and they remain a part of our heritage.
